This is a rare bird that lives in Mura's forests. An adult Okamin is normally 110cm long and its wingspan is about 100 cm; its average weight doesn't exceed 2kg. The most impressive thing on this beautiful bird's aspect is the colors of its feathers. The Muras believe it is a good omen to spot one of these crossing the skies.
Loners and adventurers, an Okamin stays with his parents for no more than a few months. Once they master their flight, these birds start to explore the world on their own.
There is only one thing that can make an Okamin quit its wandering life style: finding a mate in order to build a nest and perpetuate the species.
Although these birds, normally, breed just once in a lifetime, the couples always stay together for their entire lives.
The feathers on the Okamin's tail are much desired for their beauty. With an average length of 60 cm they may vary between red, green, blue and yellow. Besides being appreciated as an ornament, many shamans and other sorcerers are interested on theses feathers and components for magical incantations and rituals.
