The plant cannot carry out any kind of attack; which does not mean it is defenseless. The heat generated by the Emiatá can raise the flower’s temperature so much that it could burn on touch. This is the reason why insects normally cannot land on its leaves.
Many rumors are known about the mysterious flower. Some say it manages to survive without light; others say that when its temperature is too high, an eerie red aura surrounds it. Texts found in ancient books mention inebriating perfumes and even magic potions made from the Emiatá. All these rumors about the so called fire flower just make it even more desired.
